Step Up has mastered the art of getting by for the last six years. The film turned into a franchise years ago, weaving different main characters in and out of sequels for years now. The last film, Step Up 3D proved that you can make the film for little money and the bump price would be more than enough to make a profit. Now, two years later, the fourth installment in the dance series is headed to the big screen again with the 3D format once more, and a new set of characters. See the first trailer for the film, and the poster, right below:
Emily (Kathryn McCormick), the daughter of a wealthy businessman, arrives in Miami with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer, but soon falls in love with Sean (Ryan Guzman), a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs. The crew, called the MOB, strives to win a contest for a major sponsorship opportunity, but soon Emily’s father threatens to develop the MOB’s historic neighborhood and displace thousands of people. Emily must band together with Sean and the MOB to turn their performance mobs into protest mobs, and risk losing their dreams to fight for a greater cause.
And yes, that is Adam G. Sevani returning as Moose for his third straight film.
Starring, McCormick, Ryan Guzman, Sevani, Stephen Boss, Chadd Smith, Tommy Dewey, Peter Gallagher, Megan Boone, and more, Step Up: Revolution opens on July 27th.
