After the third season finale, many fans were shocked to see that three of the five original cast members of Misfits had now left the series. With Robert Sheehan departing after Season 2, followed by Antonia Thomas and Iwan Rheon late last year, the show has three cast members still standing, leaving many to wonder just what will happen in the new slate of episodes. Now, while no cast additions have yet been made, it’s been revealed that three new characters will be joining our troupe of super-powered teenagers, creating the biggest main cast the series has had yet.
Bleeding Cool dug up a casting call for the next season:
Jess (Female) - Jess is a kind of female version of Larry David – smart and articulate, She’s the person who will say the un-sayable, the person who’ll question social norms and etiquette. Jess hates people who bullshit and lie to her.
Finn (Male) - Finn has a childlike naively optimistic view of life, he’s always eager to please and enthusiastic about life. Finn talks a lot and often uses this to try and talk himself out of difficult or awkward situations. He is very funny.
Alex (Male) - Alex is the sexiest guy on the estate. He is super good looking, all the girls fancy him but for some reason he is very standoffish, he doesn’t seem interested in girls. Everyone reads this as being extremely suspicious and suspect it’s power related.
The males will outweigh the females once more 4 to 2, but I think what’s really exciting is the fact that Finn doesn’t sound like a new version of Simon, but rather a great companion to Rudy. Jess sounds like the opposite of both Alisha and Kelly in every way, and it certainly sounds like they’re not trying to type-cast the way they did for Rudy when Nathan disappeared. What I mean is that Rudy is very much like Nathan: never restrained in his speech, always spouting one-liners, sex is always a topic, and he’s one of the funniest characters on the show. It certainly sounds like they’re trying to avoid that again with this new trio of characters, and I very much respect that.
The fourth year of Misfits is set to premiere sometime this Winter in the U.K., though it’s more than likely the U.S. won’t see the new episodes until Early 2013.
