New Girl‘s guest star list has been massive for a series that has not even been running a year already. The show has kept racking up numerous stars due to its critical and audience acclaimed comedy, making it easily one of the best comedies on television. However, the season had to end eventually, meaning we won’t have adorkable tales on our televisions for the summer. However, if you thought the guests were done, think again, as the hit freshman series has just pulled a hattrick of stars to appear in the year’s end.
It’s been announced that Mary Elizabeth Ellis’ character of Caroline, Nick’s ex-girlfriend, will return for three episodes and the two may end up reconciling. It gets so serious to the point where Nick believes he’s going to move in with Caroline, forcing the roommates to search for a possible replacement. Here’s where Thomas Lennon comes in as new character Neil in the May 8th season finale.
Justin Long, however, will return as Jess’ awkward ex-boyfriend Paul on the May 1st episode. It’s unclear just what brings the character back, especially with the way things ended, but it could be due to the fact that Jess and Paul still work in the same school, the two can’t avoid each other if they tried. Whether or not sparks will fly once more, meaning we’ll see Long again in Season 2, is completely up in the air.
Lennon has appeared in many supporting role in film and television since the ending of his co-created comedy Reno 911!, where he starred as Jim Dangle for every episode. Ellis has starred in the comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is written and starring husband Charlie Day, while Long recently made the jump to the small screen himself in a voiceover role for the new FX series Unsupervised.
Other guest stars this first season of New Girl include Eva Amurri, Michaela Watkins, Dermot Mulroney, Ryan Kwanten, and the upcoming Katrina Bowden.
New Girl airs every Tuesday at 9PM on FOX.
