ABC has been busy this week, casting their members for their version of the Beauty and the Beast pilot, which is in contention with The CW who is currently doing their own version. Since the casting of Kristin Kreuk as the titular Beauty, and Austin Basis as the supporting best friend to our titular Beast, we haven’t heard too much from the production as it heads into filming. However now, the program has found it’s leading man, and he’s tussled with dinosaurs before.
TV Line reports that Jay Ryan, who played infiltrator to the Sixers camp Curran on the first season of Terra Nova, has been cast as Vincent for the pilot, taking over the role from predecessor Ron Perlman who portrayed the character in the original 1980s series.
While detals are scarce on the pilot officially, we know that it’s a drama with a procedural twist. Previous intel that hit the internet stated Kreuk’s character becomes a NYPD detective after a childhood accident left her mother dead from a traumatizing event, but Vincent saved her in his Beastly form. When she stumbles upon her hero while working a case in the present day, the two ignite a tale as old as time, with a little twist of course.
The chances of the pilot at this point are unknown, but with production set to begin in Vancouver in the coming weeks, hopefully we’ll have more as it progresses.
