Tim Burton has never done a stop-motion animated film since 2005′s Corpse Bride, which was only has second time in that type of animation since his produced and written masterpiece The Nightmare Before Christmas. Now, Burton has a new film coming soon with Disney Pictures called Frankenweenie, and we’ve seen stills, a poster, and some more, but haven’t really experienced what the movie will be like. However, a teaser trailer hit the internet today, and it is simply breathtaking:
Synopsis:
After the death of his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring him back to life. Victor tries to hide his creation, but Sparky gets out and causes havoc in the town.
Now, this is certainly a passion project for Burton, as he’s turning a short he did decades ago into a full-length feature with stop-motion animation. And honestly, you can just feel the passion oozing from this trailer. At over two minutes, the trailer is certainly a long teaser, and yet it goes straight for the heart. As soon as that dog gets up, I was on the verge of misty eyes.
The animation certainly brings flashes of Nightmare, but the general look of the film is one that very much resembles Corpse Bride. How it will look in 3D, however, is certainly a pressing matter, and one you can obviously get a look at during John Carter screenings of the format. But, the first trailer forFrankenweenie, in my opinion, is a huge success, and has me very excited for the film.

But, what about you? What do you think of the trailer?
