Directed by Derick Martini, Hick deals with the story of “smalltown teenager Luli (Moretz) who escapes to Las Vegas, leaving behind her alcoholic and abusive parents. Armed with her smarts, a pistol and pocket money, she hitchhikes her way west. Along the way, Luli crosses paths with Eddie (Redmayne), an unstable rebel with questionable motives and Glenda (Lively), a cocaine-snorting drifter on the run.”
The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Andrea Portes, who also wrote the movie’s screenplay, and stars Moretz, Blake Lively, Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Rory Culkin, Eddie Redmayne, and more. Hick will be distributed by Phase 4 Films, and originally premiered last year at TIFF.
Like Moretz’s Dark Shadows, Hick will also be hitting thaters on May 11th.
