We are just a little over one week until The Hunger Games, one of the most anticipated films of the entire year. Fans have been clamoring for any kind of information they can find, and now they can rest easily. we have eight minutes of all-new footage for you! In one video, there are plenty of new scenes shown in a B-roll montage that jumps from scene to scene, showcasing the behind the scenes efforts of the actors and director Gary Ross. And then, if that wasn’t enough, we also have a new clip from the film in which the huge love story finally begins.
Let’s start off with the B-roll:
The video certainly shows plenty of new scenes we haven’t seen before, and one of the most interesting lies with Haymitch. Throughout the novel, we never really get to see Haymitch’s mentoring process during the Games themselves. While it seems he could just be grabbing a drink, it certainly seems like everyone is focused on something. Could it be that Haymitch is trying to find his liquid courage to make the right calls?
Showing Gary Ross’ involvement behind the scenes was also remarkable as well. We get to see how in depth he goes multiple times, and some of the camera work just looks damn impressive.
Next, we have the newest clip from MTV:
While we’re used to Katniss’ inner monologue, here’s where Jennifer Lawrence’s performance comes in handy. Just the look on her face from expectation to revelation is a slow process as it begins to sink in. Josh Hutcherson’s performance as well is one that is noteworthy. For most of the previews, we’ve seen him very silent, and really only uttering one line of dialogue. So, to see his approach to his role is something new and unique. Not to mention, this clip is definitely a monumentous occasion, as it sets forth the love triangle element to come.
The Hunger Games hits theaters and IMAX on March 23rd.
