Yesterday, we told you about what producer Michael Bay had to say about the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot that will be hitting the big screen. While their appearance sounded like a positive step forward, it’s the fact that their origins story now made the Turtles aliens that really pissed off a great deal of the fanbase. Now, Bay has responded to various comments about his reveal, and is trying to talk numerous fans down off a ledge.
Michael Bay posted on his official site, “Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”
As we said in the reveal article, the script writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec deserve at least a benefit of the doubt for right now. The duo that penned the hit Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol has proved they can revive a series, no matter how bleak it may look. While director Jonathan Liebesman doesn’t exactly have people excited due to his past work, especially Battle: Los Angeles, it’s the script he’s following that truly determines whether or not it will be a flop or a hit.
Further rumors mention that the alien premise will also likely bring Krang, the villain from another dimension, into the fray as well. Whether or not this is indeed true remains to be seen.
Produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is currently scheduled for release on December 25th, 2013.
