Life Unexpected castmates are having quite the amazing run post-series on The CW. Kris Polaha is enjoying his time as a series regular on Ringer. Britt Robertson is the main character of the new supernatural teenage hit The Secret Circle. Meanwhile, Austin Basis is looking to return to the network as he plays a key supporting role in the possible-pick-up Beauty and The Beast. Now, another castmember joins the possibility of returning to The CW, as the young actor has received the male lead in the upcoming Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries.
Deadline reports that Austin Butler, who played jock with a heart of gold Jones on LUX, has been cast in the upcoming pilot as a character named Sebastian Kydd. Kydd is described as “a brooding heartthrob and ultimate insider who always plays the outsider. His presence at Carrie’s school will shake things up in a big way.”
Butler joins previously announced castmember AnnaSophia Robb in the pilot, who will be playing the teenage Carrie Bradshaw in the 1980s “when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.”
The project is based off of the novel of the same name by Candace Bushnell. Production is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks, but exactly what the chances are for the series to be picked up by the network are certainly unknown. The pilot is one of eight The CW has greenlit for production, and it certainly seems like a right fit among series such as Gossip Girl, 90210, and more. However, even if those shows will survive to see Fall 2012 certainly remains to be seen.
