Awhile ago, the next animation series from Warner Brothers Animation was revealed called Beware the Batman. However, with a 2013 release, the CGI series’ details are extremely scarce at this point. With episodes already being created, and actors in the voiceover studio, we only know for sure one of the actors and who they’ll be portraying…and it isn’t Batman. Now, WB has released an all-new teaser poster for the series, while also confirming the network it will be on, and possibly an even earlier premiere time.
Warner Brothers has confirmed that the new series will be broadcast on Cartoon Network on the channel’s newly debuted DC Nation block. It will join Young Justice, which is currently in production on its second season as the first begins to wrap up on televisions, and the newly debuted CGI seriesGreen Lantern: The Animated Series. It’s undetermined just when the show will premiere, but Superhero Hype reportedly says it will be later this year. Honestly, it will most likely be an early look in the fall with a regular run in Early 2013, just as Cartoon Network did with Green Lantern over four months before the series began its first season just mere weeks ago.
The only confirmed castmember for Beware The Batman thus far is Kurtwood Smith (That 70s Show) as Detective Jim Gordon. Set to be the early years of Batman, the series will feature lesser known villains in the series’ mythology, such as Professor Pyg, Magpie, Mister Toad, and more. The series will be tackling bigger villains as it progresses, but wants to really put the spotlight on those that a new generation of fans have never known. Instead of Robin, Batman’s sidekick will be the young female Katana, while even Alfred will get in on the action as he totes a couple of guns in various adventures to assist his Master Bruce Wayne.
WB describes the series as:
A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a “Batman show.” Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans. With WBA’s Sam Register executive producing, and Batman Beyond’s Glen Murakami and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’s Mitch Watson producing, Beware the Batman, based on characters from DC Comics, is coming soon to Cartoon Network!
We’ll have more information on the show as it develops.
