Ted has been a film that’s long been on our radar. The first feature film from Family Guy creator/writer/actor Seth MacFarlane, the movie has a unique premise, with an impressive cast to boot. Wtih Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and even MacFarlane himself, it could easily be the comedy hit of the summer. While we haven’t seen any footage as of yet, SXSW is where the film premiered its first look, and ended up handing posters to audience members. Now, we have that poster for you.
The poster comes from Collider, who was in the audience, and scanned the poster you can see below. Very special thanks to them (click to enlarge):
The film follows the story of John Bennett (Wahlberg), who as a child made a birthday wish that his teddy bear would come to life. Come to find out…the wish came true. Now, many years later, the two are still together, except the childhood has gone out the window. Ted (MacFarlane) has refused to leave John’s side, and is a pot-smoking, foul mouthed stuffed animal that no young child ever imagines. When John meets who he thinks is the love of his life (Kunis), it comes down between tackling the future, and letting go of the past…even if it’s still alive and kicking.
With the poster debut, a trailer should be making its way to the internet soon, and may possibly be attached to 21 Jump Street for all we know. With Giovanni Ribisi, Jessica Stroup, Joel McHale, Patrick Warburton, Laura Vandervoort, and Ralph Garman rounding out the cast, the film definitely seems like it could be in such R-rated glory as The Hangover or Bridesmaids. But, what impression it makes first on people certainly seems to be a big question.
Ted will be released by Universal Pictures on July 13th.
