With their PaleyFest panel now behind them, we know of five actors that will be returning to American Horror Story‘s second season. Furthermore, we know that Jessica Lange will be playing the main character of the new venture into the anthological series, with Zachary Quinto and one other male co-lead playing rivals to Lange’s role. However, it seems they won’t be the only ones ticking off the former mother of the antichrist. This time around, they’re gaining inspiration from Angelina Jolie.
TV Line reports that a casting call for the upcoming season calls for a series regular character by the name of Gia. She is described as a mid-20s caucasian who is ”a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot who harbors a secret – think Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted.” The character is also described in the article as an “arch-nemesis” to Lange’s new role.
With this latest female, this now brings the gender count to four females against two males, as Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, and Evan Peters have all joined Quinto and Lange for the upcoming season. No word yet on who will take over the role of Gia, but as the one-year casting has taught us, it could really be anyone.
While the role is very much open, TV Line takes their jab at guest casting by suggesting Adrianne Palicki. Personally, I’d love to see the return of Kate Mara in the role, or maybe even her sister Rooney.
American Horror Story begins production in July for a season premiere in the third week of October.
