Back in 2010, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief hit theaters, with a successful box office total, but not many people really remembering the film some time later, or even critics giving a good amount of positive things to say. Still, however, the young adult novel series has been trying to get a second film on the rails for some time now, and it looks like the movie will finally head into production. Now, an all-new casting addition proves that the film is ready to head to the cameras, but as for who exactly the new actor will be playing is certainly a mystery.
Variety reports that Big Love star Douglas Smith is in final talks to become co-star in the upcoming sequel Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. Smith’s role at this time is uncertain, but he’s set to join previous stars Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario, who is fully expected to return to their roles from the first film.
In the next installment, Jackson (Lerman) and his band of friends “head into the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece.” Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Problem Child, Ed Wood) penned the script, with previous director Chris Columbus directing. The film will be helmed this time around by Thor Freudenthal (Stuart Little, Diary of A Wimpy Kid).
Currently, the movie is set to hit theaters on March 26th, 2013.
