After a massive pilot order, it seems NBC is looking to get back on par with other networks after an extremely disappointing 2011-12 season. Between the gigantic 8 comedy episode order, which was on top of alot of other comedies, the network is now building up the drama pilots along with it. The sci-fi sounding Beautiful People is one of the most notable drama pilots, and now NBC has decided to put a big name next to the pilot: J.J. Abrams.
TV Line reports that NBC has greenlit Revolution, a one hour action drama from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, and executive produced by J.J. Abrams. The series is said to “follow a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.”
This isn’t the only thing in the works for both men, as Kripke and Abrams also have projects over at The CW. Kripke has penned a script for a potential new superhero series based on the DC comic book Deadman, but the pilot has not yet been greenlit by the network. Meanwhile, Abrams is exec producing the drama Shelter from One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwann, which was greenlit last week.
Abrams last project at NBC was the failed series Undercovers, which he also executive produced. The director has been involved in television plenty over the last decade, with Alias,Lost, Fringe, Alcatraz, Person of Interest, and more projects at all of the major networks.
