Lou Taylor Pucci In Talks to Join ‘Evil Dead’ Remake

Lou Taylor Pucci

Finally, the upcoming remake of The Evil Dead has been making great progress in the way of casting. Suburgatory star Jane Levy will be the female lead, while Shiloh Fernandez will be playing the male lead, as the two will be portraying siblings. With production set to begin in the coming month or two, more casting is effectively going through. Now, it seems one more character has not only been revealed, but the actor that will be playing him has been set.

Variety reports that Lou Taylor Pucci, who’s starred in plenty of low-key films such as Fifty Pills and Fanboys, is in talks to come to the upcoming horror remake. He’ll be playing “Eric, an intense academic whose intellectual curiosity gets him and his friends into trouble.”

With the character description, it’s not unusual to assume that the “intellectual curiosity” is the character stumbling upon the Book of the Dead, thus summoning the creatures that eventually cause the events in that little cabin in the woods. He definitely sounds like the stereotypical nerd character of the bunch, but hopefully he doesn’t dip too far into the cliche end of the role.

Fede Alvarez will be directing the upcoming film from a script he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues, with rewrites from Diablo Cody, and producing credits in the hands of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi. Sony Pictures will distribute the movie, which is set for a release April 12th, 2013.
