Sons of Anarchy is one of the hottest dramas on television right now. This past fall, FX renewed the drama for a fifth season, while also expanding the fourth season a bit. People are in love with it, and they have every right to be. Now, the network is making sure that the hit won’t be going anywhere due to creative differences, should they arise in the future, as creator Kurt Sutter took to his Twitter to announce that he signed a new extension with the channel.
Sutter said on Saturday that he is now contracted with FX to take him through Season 6 and Season 7 of Sons of Anarchy, should the network choose to renew it. Honestly, the chance that SoA may not see seven years is definitely slim to none. The drama is one of the most riveting programs on television, a ratings giant that grows every year, and competes easily with the bar-setting drama network AMC.
What FX is essentially trying to do is avoid those very tricky negotations that have plagued hit series Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Mad Men is set to come back after 17 months off the air, thanks to the long talks between AMC and creator Matthew Weiner, and Breaking Bad‘s negotations recently culminated in a 16 episode order for a final season, set to begin filming in March. Now, Sons of Anarchy won’t be hit with the same problems that have hit the other two top-tier dramas, and is looking stong to go through 2014.
Three seasons of Sons of Anarachy are currently available on Netflix streaming, with the fourth set to hit the service, along with a release on Blu-Ray and DVD, later this year.
