Future of ‘Beavis & Butthead’ Now In Jeopardy?

Is this the end of Beavis and Butthead's second coming?

Last year, MTV made an impressive move that put Beavis & Butthead back on the air with new episodes after 14 years. Many would think this vow of confidence would mean that the series would continue for some time. However, in great MTV fashion, not too many series live that long now-a-days if it doesn’t revolve around stupidity or teen pregnancy. MTV cancelled Beavis and Butthead‘s companion program Good Vibes Friday morning after one season, but interestingly enough, the classic series’ future may be in turmoil as well.

Deadline reports that conversations about the show’s future on the network are still ongoing, which may not mean the end of the revival just yet. However, it’s not a clear indication whether or not MTV may want to continue.

The show premiered to 3.3 million viewers, but it eventually dwindled down to 900,000 by the season’s end. Granted, it has a very challenging timeslot on Thursday nights, being pitted against regular primetime programs on other networks, but those are quite sad numbers indeed.

The conversations could in fact be for mutliple seasons, a la Futurama, but given the viewership, it’s most likely that the network is trying to devise a proper strategy to bring back the duo in a much more successful form, whether it be a timeslot change, or a transistion to the summer months may also be an option.

We’ll keep you updated on just what exactly will happen for the often laughing teenagers’ future, whether it be cancelled or renewed, when information becomes available.

But, what we want to know is from you: do you think Beavis and Butthead should be renewed? Could the less-than-successful run be due to the declining quality in programming from MTV forming a stereotype for the network (Jersey Shore,Teen Mom, etc.)? Is it simply an older generation not striking gold once more with the next gen? Or, have the fans of the series simply outgrown the humor?

The new episodes were all good, some of them were great, and at least one, “Holy Cornholio” was a classic, up there with anything from the original run. (Though that might be because the idea dates FROM the original run.) The return of these two sage gurus of the Clinton era was long overdue and most welcome, and yes, they should most definitely continue the revival, for as long as Mike Judge is willing to do it. (An interesting note, watching the new episodes, it struck me that the Boys seemed a bit smarter than they used to be…but then I realized, nah…the rest of the world has just become a lot dumber.)

“the world has just become a lot dumber”

its funny at first, but its all to true. part of the reason shows like jersey shore are so popular. Thanks folks congratulations on being so dumb and unwilling to better your self’s!

YES. A thousand times YES. Although this show was big in the 90′s, it remains absolutely relevant today and even though B&B are technically “retro”, it’s so refreshing to see this on MTV, a network I never used to watch before B&B. A lot has changed since B&B’s heyday, but this show has evolved seamlessly with the new cultural landscape. I don’t see any reason why this show couldn’t live up to its former glory with a healthy dose of promotion of a new season, getting it out there to the young high school or college-age viewers (like me) so that a generation that had been in diapers in the 90′s can now enjoy the antics of this dumb dynamic duo. :)

  • Lisamk555

Any chance another network, like Fox or Comedy Central, could pick it up? I thought the new episodes were great, but I despise Mtv and everything it stands for. Beavis and Butthead deserve better.

    • http://www.facebook.com/kizzle32 Kyle King

Mike Judge sold the rights of Beavis and Butt-head to MTV a long time ago for a pittance. He still owns some of it but MTV is the majority so he can’t take it anywhere :(

i second that good sir couldnt have said it better myself

      I also 2nd that, er, wait…this would be a 3rd.

HELL Effin YES, Beavis And Butthead SHOULD DEFINITELY be renewed for a second, third fourth, fifth, season, etc. etc. etc…

At first I was a bit incensed at the lack of music videos on the show, but making fun of shows like Jersey Shore, 16 And Pregnant, etc. has become absolutely hilarious! Especially since those are shows I would NEVER watch on MTV (although I MAY check out a few ‘Shore episodes just for the hell of it). I think the new 2011 episodes are just as funny, if not funnier, than anything they ever did from the first run of episodes. I would like to see Mike Judge pull some videos from the European death and black metal bands, though; I’m curious to see how our favorite metalheads would respond…

Beavis and Butthead do not belong on MTV anymore. MTV is garbage. B&B do not belong with grabage. Adult Swim should pick them up. Surely B&B has a place on such a network.

    • Virtual_Habitat

Perhaps, VH1 could pick them up.  They cater towards an older audience.  B&B original followers, like myself, are grown in their 30s.  They might be pretty successful on this network since viewership are mostly from this age group that grew with them.  I just love them regardless what age I am.  LOL!  Brings me back to the days.

      • uri

only time i ever watch VH1 is when its got in living color on.

I ended up buying the mike judge collection 1/2/3/ when they came out, as well as hunting the Internets for the old mtv B&B video’s.

Were’s a G.D. moron a thon when you want one though.

    • Dbowen2014

it should replace that NCIS spoof or something agreed.

    • uri

Not a fan of adult swim to be honest. Aqua teen and SUVwth or what ever and childrens hospital and robot chicken… i dont see the comedic value or interest that people find in these shows. robot chickens ok i guess but its just a bunch of dolls/puppets playing out the “now grown up view point” of the child we once were watching older shows. the other shows on adult swim are just, hot garbage with burnt butt hair mixed with hard core Mexican diereha though.

      • http://www.facebook.com/romulus.edgar.7 Romulus Edgar

huh? butt hair, and did u mean diarrhea?

  • Virtual_habitat

Indeed!  I was a big fan when I was little, and it was fun to have them back.  I hope the network decides to bring them back for one more season before taking them off the air.  It would be one big tease if the network only gives them one season.

  • Dbowen2014

i love that beavis and butthead are back and get marathons and are oon all the time. oh wait thats not right, only freikken jershey shore can be shown on music televesion! thats why viewers were low. not to mentin colledge football was on as well but MTV doesnt do anything much for a good show

  • Nyteshade

Loved the new season and would love to see more. I find it interesting that Beavis and Butthead now appear smarter than the entire cast of things like Jersey Shore and the shows they made fun of, but it was welcome and enjoyable.

  • Courtney

    loved it!

  • Beavis&ButtHead4Lyf99

I believe Beavis and Butt-Head make good characters for the TV-14 lovers. They were the #1 Hit on MTV. I mean, God, if they are good enough to have a four volumes, They are certainly good enough to stay on TV. When I watched beavis and Butt-Head for the first time, I knew I found my new favorite show. For the love of TV-14, Bring back Beavis and Butt-Head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Renegadescorpio87

Mtv is a terrible network. Know one wants to waste there time to change the channel for only 30 minutes of decent television. Beavis and Butthead I pray go to Comedy Central. Mtv is for 14 year old pregnant whores, frequent masterbaters, homosexuals, and spray tan hair models. They don’t even play music anymore barely. The network has failed for good shows which is why Beavis and Butthead need to find better

  • Renegadescorpio87

Mtv is a terrible network. No one wants to waste there time to change the channel for only 30 minutes of decent television. Beavis and Butthead I pray go to Comedy Central. Mtv is for 14 to 16 year old pregnant teens, frequent masterbaters, punkd homosexuals, and spray tan hair models. They don’t even play music anymore barely. The network has failed for good shows which is why Beavis and Butthead need to find a better home

  • Tbeoe

Bringing B&B back was the first good decision MTV has made since they stopped actually playing music on 24 hour music network. It is/was the only reason I even tuned in after boycotting them all these years.  And yes, they would be stupid not to continue running the series.

  • uri

i really enjoyed B&B again used to love them back in the day, the only thing that really bugged me is that beavis doesn’t sound right.

Didnt really care for them making fun of MTV shows over Music videos like they used to do, that was a big part of the enjoyment of B&B as they rocked out to music or humped the couch or got into a fight and every once in a while beavis would just kick butthead in the nads. lol..

I personally thought the newer versions were on par at least with the older ones with some slight differences but i felt like that little 10 year old kid i was and laughed quiet alot.

I would Prefer they not censor them like they seem to be doing i have a filling thats part of the problem Mike judge Made something Great with B&B and MTV and “Sensitive Mom’s” seem to be dulling it down. So far none of the new episodes are on at the top with the older ones while still funny and enjoyable there not as good.

Episodes like the one that started off with Beavis anus Literally Smuldering from a fiery experiment or the likes of couch fishing theres many many many others. there still good but there being censored and toned down i believe which is the wrong way to go about it.

In this day and age theres no excuse when it comes to time slots if we want to watch an episode of say futurama when beavis and butthead is on and we choose to watch one over the other GUESS WHAT?!?!? we’ll be on the internet watching it soon as we finish the other. I don’t see why they punish and choose to lose viewers instead of just streaming episodes via there web site. if they really want ratings and even then It gets really tiring watching 5 minutes of a show then 5 minutes of commercials. 30 minute shows, equals roughly 17 minutes of actual show and 13+ minutes of commercials.

Which is also part of the reason i choose to watch shows online instead of on tv.

  • uri

+ I can’t stand MTV other wise there shows are so much Stupid drama about some really dumb people. You would genuinely have to be a 12-16 year old girl or incredibly ignorant with a very low IQ to like any thing on there other wise.

It makes me want to throw up, Even thinking about people like Paris Hilton or the folks from Jersey Shore or Snookie ugh *shudder* *Gag*

  • Michelle

I think they are still kick ass, but the shows they make fun of we don’t care about. Maybe they should just be two dumb asses that get themselves in trouble or rip on anyone or anything in general.

  • Todds Cool

    “Were there dude.”

  • http://twitter.com/EricSHutchison Eric Hutchison

B&B weren’t necessarily their old selves in the new season. They were too politically correct.

    • ECW_Fan_4Life

I totally agree! The new show was still funny but didnt seem tp push the envelope like the old seasons used to

    • BillyBarnett3

I disagree i see nothing different in them

      • http://twitter.com/ILoveAngelDust drew niggy

I agree with you man. the very first video of the first episode Beavis starts doing his classic fire schtick, shit was great. especially because they had to stop doing that in the 90′s. anyway, I watch and it feels like classic Beavis & Butt-Head.

    • JohnnyLurg

Too politically correct? Are you kidding me? Beavis actually asked if “Indians” and “Mexicans” were the same thing in one episode!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1209875397 Jared Culpepper

Only difference I really saw was that they were more cognizant of what they were doing at times, and their vocabularies were a little better. I thought it worked though, because the voice acting played these moments as one-off strokes of (relative) genius. Hope it comes back, though I’ll admit I’ve never supported it by watching on MTV–my own one-man boycott of crap television.

  • Ass

This is quite clearly the greatest show in history. Not only should they be doing a new season, they should be doing seasons until the year 3000. Beavis and Butthead are Gods

  • jayson

bring beavis and butthead back please i have been a fan for years and scince i started watching the new season i fell in love with the show even more please bring it back. love beavis and butthead very much :)

  • http://twitter.com/HellonMars Rotten Flesh

The reason Beavis and Butthead failed this season is because they
weren’t… themselves really. I mean, what happened to smashing a kid
with a piece of wood? Or smashing Beavis with a baseball bat? And they
didn’t act like themselves, I mean come on! Beavis loving Kate Perry?
FUCKING SERIOUSLY? It was too politically correct, it needs some grime. And they need to be themselves again!

There were some good episodes for this season, but a lot of them and especially the music video scenes were just weak.

  • Samuelstines

Dude I will cry if they cancel this show brings me back to the 90′s makes me feel good to watch it like being a kid again

  • guest

Well, I’m part of the “next gen” (lol) and I loved it. But,  I hate jersey shore, the real world, and all of the spin-offs the dumb asses in jersey shore got. I hope it comes back again.

  • IknowWhatGoodTvIs

Thats Bs this show and Rj berger needs to stay on air i loved those shows this is crap that my only 2 fav shows are gone now and all they have that was gtood was that and Jackass those 3 shows is all MTV has really going for them. Jersey shore is retarded js.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Frank-Matthews/100000372161202 Frank Matthews

I want Beavis & Butthead now!!!!

  • http://profiles.google.com/cloneworksadmin CloneWorks Admin

Heres the deal. MTV has scrapped what made it great – the music. when beavis and butt-head first aired I watched and laughed as they ripped on videos and would often hear beavis yell “Change it!”. With that said, the show can not survive when you have stupid shit shows seeping into Beavis and Butt-Head, like Teen Mom and more of the tired reality TV garbage that most Americans seem to think is different in some way when your not doing anything new but market and exploit people’s stupidity.

Yes people are dumb and will watch what you put on, regardless how good or bad it is.

The point is that MTV return to what made them great to start with – the fans, the music and not trying to compete with NBC, ABC, Soapnet, and that reality TV network. WHO CARES?!? Quit teaching teenaged girls its ok to get pregnant by exploiting dumb pregnant teenagers on TV, turn the sound off on the commercials and make Beavis and Butt-Head the stars like they once were.

    • saywhat

i know now all they have got on it now is people that are obsesed with them selves

    • uri

To many commercials as is any ways. Seriously though i fill like im watching the all comercials channel all the time on most channels. its getting a bit rediculous and makes me just want to wait for a season to air and then rip it off the internets instead of purchasing it simply because of all the time they waste of mine, with all those god damn commercials.

Its like 12 minutes of show per half hour to a 18 minutes variation of commercials.

  • GarE

Holy crap, of course it should be renewed!!!  What other series in history, animated or otherwise, has ever taken a break for 10+ years and then come back EXACTLY the way it used to be?  I’m a huge fan and I can’t tell the difference between the old and new episodes.  MTV needs to either air it at a better time or give it to another network that people are actually still watching!

  • Tyler17hamm

I am 21 years old and I was a really young when Beavis and Butthead was on the air in the 90′s and so I had never watched it but when it was brought back in 2011 being a fan of Family Guy and other animated shows on Fox and Comedy Central I started to watch it and thought it was hilarious so yes MTV should bring it back

  • Jakehalsted

Yes yes!  DO IT!  DAMNIT!  and while you’re at it, put VIDEOS BACK ON!  Damnit, you SUCK SUCK SUCK

  • Jakehalsted

Just when I thought that things were getting better…life was starting to feel Clintonian again.  more jobs in the Technology space.  Democrat in the Whitehouse.  Beavis and Butthead back on MTV, making fun of the current lineup.  And now THIS!  Republicans must be taking over

  • Mitchdion1996

If Beavis and Butthead had some old school music videos; the amount of viewers will increase, me and my buddy were happy once the film went back on air hoping that we would see some old school metal music videos, but it was jersey shore and new gay shit… bring back the music videos!!!

  • Nadiakhan14532

YES! YES!!! Please bring them back! I love them so much! If there is no Season 10, I’m gonna be really disappointed. Mtv should give the show a second chance. It really deserves it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brandon.trefethen Brandon Trefethen

One more season and see what happens to the number. If those aren’t great, then end it. But just one more.

  • Justin

MTV does suck. Bringing back Beavis and Butthead was the best thing that network has done in over 10 years.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1556525983 Deathrasher Ydi Fanzine

      For sure

    • uri

Mtv isn’t worth the dog crap i scrapped off my shows earlier. I fking hate all theres hows, seriously. Anyone who actually likes those shows… I’m sorry, your a moron.

      • uri

shows = shoes, editing error? lol..

    • uri

watched Every episode right when it came out my self. unless it was on when true blood came on then i would just catch the episode when it came back on a couple hours later.

    • anon

      yes

  • Yourmommy

They better not cancel it. That shows the shit!

  • jeffro1277

More Beavis and butthead and less of the crap! Crap meaning Jersey Shore and teen mom and all those other things showing kids whining about stuff that’s really lame! This generation needs to quit being lame and watch some Beavis and butthead! oh and mtv needs more music videos. After all you’re MTV music television, kind of dropping the ball on that one aren’t ya?

  • happysock

man I been wondring about this. where are beavis and butthead? Its the only good thing on tv next to breaking bad. to hell with all the other crap.

    • Buzzcut

      Amen!

    • uri

B&B, true blood, and futurama, the big bang theory. Used to watch the office till Steve carrel left..now not any more. only shows on tv i even remotely like though, and that number keeps dropping as shows get pulled or in the offices case have a big part of the show leave.

  • Crucifyallthesinners666

Was quite disappointed that they didn’t even keep any of the new episodes around too much longer after the season ended…
Unfortunately everyone in this country is so brainwashed by this stupid teen mom bull shit. It’s on 90% of the time. Really upsets me. I grew up with beavis and butthead. At least they aren’t glorifying being 16 and pregnant.

  • espliam

What are MTV thinking? What a set of corporate retards. Beavis and Butthead should come before Jersey Shore and all the Teen mum bullshit! Personally, I think Mike Judge could do much better than MTV. He should move to comedy Central where his talent for writing brilliant comedy would be hugely appreciated, instead of staying on a music channel that doesnt even play music anymore.

  • MTV sucks balls

This is one of the reasons why MTV sucks, they don’t see what the obvious choice is. Either renew Beavis and Butt-head and give them a better time slot or hand them over to another network.

  • GTOman

Why is there even a question about bringing Beavis and Butthead back? It was great!!! My teenage kids wouldn’t miss the new episodes, and my 13 year old son went out and purchased the old episodes (My wife is not excited about my son’s Beavis imitations). MTV must be losing touch with its audience if they keep running their present programming and miss out on Beavis and Butthead.

  • Eddie K

Beavis and Butthead along with Guy Code is all that’s watchable on MTV anymore. Doesn’t anyone make videos anymore at all? Without B & B I’m pretty much a half hour of Guy Code a week watcher. You guys at MTV listening?

  • rich

It’s hard to believe those viewership numbers when just about every male I know from age 12 to 46 watched every episode last year. It had to be higher than that.

    • I’mdying

Often networks change the numbers around to make people think that a show was struggling or vice versa. They use it as a cushion so that many people think that their move was expected. I am the ghostwriter of many shows but I had a stroke and I no longer wish to write anymore episodes. Also a lot of networks still owe me money, so in effect I don’t even have a reason to come back. There are those last few episodes that I wrote but don’t count on ever seeing them. Funny how a lot of shows are the talent and the writers…this is just not true. So go on world, keep on thinking Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote Good Will Hunting. The joke is on you.

  • cytojj

So the trend is here that MTV sucks anymore and Beavis and Butthead should move to a different station. It deserves it and Jersey Shore and all them other shows that MTV airs suck. Our generation didnt grow up with that crap airing on MTV back then…we like music videos! Beavis and Butthead deserve to continue and the people at MTV are a bunch of bungholes.

  • J.R. Edwards

If they move networks, I would love to see Beavis and Butthead go back to the 90s and try to warn MTV of their demise or something lol

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1556525983 Deathrasher Ydi Fanzine

MTV sucks, I agree they do not belong on this degeneration of a so called station. Keep B&B alive…

    • Buzzcut

MTV is being run by people who don’t even realize what made it great to begin with.MTV2 should have devolved into the Jersey Shore type of network and MTV should have stayed the course. I think one day some exec will have a brainstorm and think ” oh my God I have an idea….how about a Network that only shows music videos and music related content….and do it 24/7″….now that would be *ahem* an epic idea eh?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joe-Huber/749668922 Joe Huber

I think it has more to do with nothing else on MTV being worthwhile viewing. No music videos to parody because MTV, VH1 and other so-called music channels no longer play music videos. If MTV were smart they’d build around Beavis and Butthead. There were 3 million viewers to start with but you never knew if it was a new episode or not and really the show is Friday or Saturday night material. It just felt wrong on Thursdays. TV’s changed a lot since the first run of the show. Thursday night is not so much a comedy night like it was during the heyday of must-see tv on NBC.

  • 420girl

    long live beavis and butthead!!!!

  • fafase

I am not surprised by the “low” number for TV-viewers.The real number is how many people watched on TV and/or online. I saw the full season and I am in Europe where MTV only shows 16 and preggy, punk’d or South Park season 5 (for the eighth time). Hopefully, they’ll be back again…

  • Adam

Bring the new Beavis and butthead back. Everybody I talk to thinks it was amazing cuz we do hate the shows like teen mom and jersey shore. Does the viewing numbers take into account recordings also. Cuz with the current time slot it is hard to watch with its competition and so we would just record it and watch it later that night. Either way it would be a shame to see them cancel the show after what my family and friends thought it made a great comeback

  • buttvis&beahead

please come to comedy central!! PLEAAAASE!!!!!

  • T-man

The only episodes I like from last season were “Holy Cornholio” and the military one. It wouldn’t kill me personally if they didn’t have a season 10 to be honest.

  • RebeccaJX

I was soooo happy to see them come back…. now where have they gone?? MTV must have their heads up their butts&heads!!!!!

  • Faith

Bring back beevus and butthead they are the best thing on MTV everything else sucks balls

  • Lobo Fett

Beavis and Butthead are pop-culture gods. I think if the show were to truely benefit, it should leave the crippling MTV. A reguaalr slot on channels such as teletoon, or cartoon network, (or even adultswim), would get Beavis and Butthead the audiences they truely deserve, and leave MTV with its lurid program schedule consisting of teen pregnancies, and Jersey Whores…

  • hubbajube

Did they take into account how many views they got online? I know allot of ppl that watch it on MTV.com and the internet’s starting to dominate when it comes to TV shows. I for one watch it because half the shit on tv now a day’s isn’t worth a 50-100 dollar provider bill, and the ability to watch any time I want for about a week for new aired episodes is great.
I really hope they Renew B&B I’ll watch it when they put it up online, but that wont happen until they air it on MTV first.
I haven’t paid this much attention to the station sense before they cut Jackass and stopped airing music videos.
They should just change the name to “Stupid Slutty Teens on T.V.” or “SST” for short….

  • http://www.facebook.com/leanna.cowger Leanna Rae Cowger

Dude. Bring back Beavis and Butthead. MTV sucks as a channel now, and that show is the only reason why I continued paying for the channel.

  • Rod Munch

If you look on wiki it says that on Oct 17 2012 Mike judge release info that he is working on the new season! And I heard that its rumored to release around the end of January!

  • jaden

beavis and butt head 4ever no matter what

  • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.clark.169405 Jonathan Clark

What. The. HELL. They air a bunch of slutty guidos for HOW many seasons? These new generations of MTV viewers are stupid anyway. STOP MEASURING SUCCESS BY THEM.

  • whoareyou

we need more i loved the old and the new ones mtv is not the same without these mental teenagers

  • Gubreez

This is the ONLY show I have ever seen from MTV. I bought the dvd for the new episodes the minute it was released. I REALLY REALLY hope they continue it. The humor has gotten EVEN BETTER, if that is even possible.

  • Pedro

    Uhuhuhuhuhhhhuhuh he said slot

  • kristen

my favorite show ever….must be renewed!

  • Jon

Their fatal error was having Beavis and Butt-head comment on reality shows rather than music videos.

  • Lord Bungholeo

I think they need to keep rolling with beavis and butthead… Hell Mike judge is just starting to get his feet wet again, with the more modern showes like family guy and southpark He really needs to let America have it with Beavis and Butthead. Thats the beauty about Animation the only limitations you have is within what boundry the networks will allow you to do. Let’s face it, Family guy and south park… They got some Messed up stuff in them showes, But that’s also what makes it funny as hell. B&B have plenty of potential, it’s all a matter of getting past all the corporate BS.

  • daaaaans

i Loved the new episodes. Soo many good quotes. “Beavis screwed his hand!” “Pizzaface” “He’s got his hand up his wifes Butt!” and Supersize Me was the funnniest thing ever.
Problem is MTV just shows utter garbage nowadays and viewers who remember and adore b&b aren’t gonna want to watch 13 and pregnant.
someone further down mentioned VH1 picking them up, i guess that could work…
“You said Muff. And then you said In”

  • ThaGr8Randini

I think beavis and butthead are hillarkous far funnier than any other animated show. Mtv would be stupid not to bring them back Beavis and Butthead were icons in the 90s for Mtv the hosted shows had their own movie and are still standing tall after 14 years not many animated shows have all that going for them.

  • George

I MISS BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD SO MUCH!!! Idk I feel empty without not having that show in my life ! Please MTV or another network if your reading this put this show back on the air PLEASEEE !!!! Ill even pay to watch this show ! That’s how funny it is … :/

Even with the change in Beavis’ voice I still very much enjoyed the full newest series. I am 35 right now and I enjoyed the new episodes as much as the classic ones. Also, I work in a grocery store with many young employees in or just out of high school and many of them talked as if they also enjoyed it, even though they weren’t old enough to enjoy the show when it first came out. But hey, what can I say, I also enjoyed the new series of Knight Rider as well and NBC canceled that after 1 season.

What is the meaning of this, outgrow the humor? Huh huh, huh huh. Hey look, a fly. Lets kill it .

  • d1ckhead

The new beavis and butthead sucked it wasn’t NOTHING LIKE THE OLD ONES they use too play music and have then comment in the videos that is what made it interesting…if there going too revise something bring it Bach the way it was the way that worked i would love top listen to beav and butt talk about how they wanna fuck britney spears our rhianna while there watching the music video

  • shittttbagion

MTV and it’s execs are complete morons to allow all the dumb shows they have on to remain, and keep the best MTV show of all time in limbo. WTF?

  • Pat

I definitely think Beavis and Butt-Head should be renewed. The new episodes were great. Beavis and Butt-Head is one of the best animated shows on television and it was refreshing to see it back on MTV. I think it would be stupid to not renew such a landmark show. I was very excited when i heard that it would be back on the air and will be very upset if it only lasted one season.

Most have not owgrown the humor. MTV is makin a mistake if they cancel beavis and butthead. play it during summer, or let comidy central or adult swim get it…

what happened to all the good shows on mtv? this and jackass had always been my favourite shows but neither are showing anymore, so i pretty much gave up watching mtv. especially since they started screening junk like my sweet sixteen and jersey shore, its kinda shame what its become now, if i wanted kids tv id watch nickelodeon.

  • Kapow123

Beavis an Butthead is the best choice for MTV to touch its past highlights.Right now MTV is dead.

  • Beavis

If they cancel Beavis & Butthead, they may as well shut that entire useless network down. you must know your network is an absolute piece of shit when beavis and butthead is considered the smartest thing you’ve done in ten+ years.

    Sincerely: Anyone with a brain.

Okay here’s my take, don’t crucify me. B&B are classical, they ruled a generation almost two decades ago, the music, the comedy, the simplicity, loved it. But mike judge shouldn’t have let the show go years ago, I understand that he was probably tired and wanted to venture knew horizons and opportunities, but he let it go, and it (the show) went away, and eventually the viewers (the generation) followed suit. The Simpsons continued, Family guy sprouted up, as well as South Park and a bunch of other stuff. Maybe the results of their (B&B) decline in popularity has less to do with the reinvented style and new content, but simply because “the ship has set sail.” And competitively speaking, animation has changed, the web is full of amateur’s trying to make it, more options on T.V, etc., etc.. Bottom line in my opinion Mike judge should have held on a bit longer; perhaps negotiations with the networks or something might have helped. Don’t get me wrong I liked the episode, B&B are dead, but it wasn’t enough, soon followed a 14 year break, how could you seriously expect things to go back to the way they were? And another thing that irks me, why haven’t they released those episodes that never made it to DVD, granted I know Mike Judge didn’t like them much (and I’ve seen some on YouTube so I understand why he didn’t like some), but compared to all the other junk and smut on television, those episodes seem wholesome. Peace to all the true B&B fans, they made my pre-teen years so memorable. I love the Christmas special the most. Peace, uh… That sucked!!!

They need to sell the rights because Beavis and Butthead are far better than any of that crap that MTV is showing or has been showing for a while. What happened to celebrity deathmatch..that was also awesome. Screw teen mom and jersey shore and all of that other crap they play!!!!

I think the popular consensus is: Beavis and Butthead rule, MTV sucks, and the B&B revival must continue. I thinks this, but who am I? I’m a devout fan that thought the new season was a B&B masterpiece, that’s who! I have no doubt that, despite the numbers, Mike Judge knows damn well what he has going and how great the new season was. Against all odds, nearly 20 years after its inception (something like that, too late for math), a cartoon, of all things returned and was as good, if not better, than its original effort. Now, it’s up to MTV to pick up the ball or pass the baton. As many horrible decisions as they have made over the decades, however, I strongly suspect that they are sitting on this, and have been for far too long. I pray they don’t waste a good thing…

The new Beavis and Butt-head episodes were worlds better than their predecessors in terms of both artwork and tight scripts. MTV’s programming (remember when it used to be MUSIC Television?) has degenerated to the point that most people (me included) simply take a pass on all of it. The return of B&B was probably the first time I had watched anything on MTV for at least five or six years. They have made celebrities out of people who had no business being on television, and they have lost the plot as far as their original purpose. I used to watch music videos for hours, and I discovered many new artists these days. Now they are too busy televising the idiocy of people like Snooki and J-Woww. I hope that Mike Judge continues to create new episodes, but it may be time to find another platform for his immensely successful program.

FYI Good Vibes wasn’t an MTV production it was an ABC-TV production which was cancelled then picked up briefly by Comedy Central who immediately cancelled it after 1 airing.

  • Rick

@425b1f077b1efc3d551e954040b4f14d:disqus, Won’t be picked by Comedy Central I’ll tell you what… because Comedy Central and MTV are sister networks and it is very unlikely if one network cancels it that one of its siblings will pick it up and as far as FOX is concerned they are too busy with Seth MacFarlane’s crap-a-rama i.e. Family Guy, The Cleveland Show and American Dad! as well as MacFarlane’s revival of the Carl Sagan science series Cosmo plus crap from Matt Groening i.e. The Simpsons and Loren Bouchard i.e. Bob’s Burgers so they don’t have any where to put it if they wanted to.

I luv beavis and butthead bring em back if they don’t MTV is dead to me they’ve been lacking for years now I don’t even think they have the right to call themselves MTV should be called reality TV cause that’s all them retards show anymore what happened to music and rock

  • foo

MTV is fucking stupid they’ve lost taste and grasp of what the used to be back in the good days like when nirvana was still alive and well

  • Shane

Beavis and Butthead is so completely relevant to the teens of today. If the Simpsons or family guy can have 17 yrs of laughs. We need more Beavis and Butthead episodes ! PRIME TIME ON MTV!
