Full Cast For Dreamworks Animation’s Upcoming ‘Turbo’ Revealed

Dreamworks Animation already has a incredibly full list of animation projects coming soon. Besides Madagascar 3 this summer, Rise of the Guardians coming this Thanksgiving, andThe Croods hitting next spring, Dreamworks is also aiming its sights for the heat of next summer when they bring Turbo to the big screen. While Ryan Reynolds had previously been confirmed for the lead role, not much more has been revealed. Now, the large cast of the film has been revealed, along with a little bit more about the story.

THR revealed that the cast joining Ryan Reynolds will be Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson.

Turbo follows an ordinary garden snail (Reynolds) with dreams of racing greatness. His obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an oddity and outsider in the slow and cautious snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his careful older brother. When he is one day imbued with the power of amazing speed, he embarks on a quest that will see him racing in the Indianapolis 500.

The film will be directed by David Soren (Merry Madagascar), with Soren writing the script next to Robert Siegel and Darren Lemke. No production date has yet been determined, but the film is set to be released on July 19th, 2013.
