2010′s reboot of Medal of Honor was definitely a mixed bag. It sold plenty thanks to positive buzz, but was definitely subject to plenty of critical negativity. Of course, EA Games won’t send the franchise back to the mysterious abyss just yet. Back withBattlefield 3, the company hinted at a Medal of Honor reveal by an advertisement in the game’s insert. Now, EA has succeded upon that tease by revealing the next installment in the seriesMedal of Honor: Warfighter.
The game, as Game Informer reports, is from the same developer Danger Close and will run on the Frostbite 2 engine, which is the same graphics system as Battlefield 3. Furthermore, the game is set to be released in October, though no specific date has yet been given.
Finally, EA also revealed the first artwork for the game, which is expected to be the cover of the upcoming sequel (click to enlarge):
This will be the second year in a row that two first person shooter war games will go head to head against each other…that is, if the ever-consistent rumors about Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are confirmed. Last year saw Battlefield 3 andModern Warfare 3 going head to head, with MW3 coming up on top with the biggest release in any type of entertainment ever.
