‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Star Trek’ To Collide In A Sci-Fi Crossover

While we have to wait until Fall for new episodes of Doctor Who, and next May for the latest adventures of the Star Trekcrew aboard the Enterprise, fans of both series will be getting a treat this Spring. Whovians will have time to bask in the glow of the series next week at the Gallifrey One convention, seeking to effectively tie them over with any great Who stuff until the new episodes actually air. However, it seems an announcement from the convention has leaked ahead of time: The Tardis Trio will be crossing over with the Trek adventures.

Now, this is only within the confines of the comic books published by IDW, as Bleeding Cool reveals. Still though, this is the first crossover for Doctor Who outside of its own universe, and the first meeting of two of the largest sci-fi franchises in entertainment history. Star Trek has crossed over with the X-Men and Legion of Superheroes before, but nothing as gigantic of a fanbase as the sci-fi television series that has been running for nearly 50 years.

The Doctor, Amy, and Rory will be meeting the cast of The Next Generation, which includes Captain Picard, Worf, Data, Geordie LaForge, Deanna Troy, Will Riker, and more.

More details will possibly be revealed next week at the convention, but for right now, perhaps this image of one of the soon to be covers should tie you over. Featuring The Tardis Trio on the bridge of the Enterprise, and with The Doctor in the infamous Captain’s chair, get a better look at the cover by clicking to enlarge:

The series is reportedly set to hit shops in May.

What do you think of the sci-fi worlds colliding?
