Comedy Central Renews ‘Key & Peele’ For Second Season Just Two Weeks After Series Premiere

Key & Peele is easily one of my favorite series on television right now…and it’s only two episodes in. The series is incredibly funny, and it stems from their great titular hosts. With critical acclaim as well, along with audiences loving theChappelle Show-esque comedy, it seems Comedy Central has yet another hit on their hands. Now, the network has decided to keep the laughs coming, by renewing the new show for a second season.

Comedy Central revealed today on their official site that Key & Peele has been picked up for a second season of 10 episodes, set to air this fall. This would bring the total episode order to 20, with the third episode airing tonight at 10:30 PM afterTosh.0.

Comedy Central Head of Programming Kent Alterman joked around in an official statement, saying “Because Key & Peele has been so immediately and universally well received, I was worried if we didn’t give the show a quick pick up, people might accuse me of being racist.” The show’s hosts also issued a statement along similar lines, stating “We are honored, humbled and most importantly contractually obligated to deliver a second season to Comedy Central.”

Key & Peele joins a slate of major Comedy Central successes over the last few years, including multiple seasons for last year’s unexpected hit Workaholics, who’s third season will premiere later this year, South Park‘s renewal for multiple years, the just debuted fourth season of Tosh.0Ugly AmericansFuturama, and more.
