Last month, it was reported that original screenwriter Fred Wolf and star Adam Sandler were in talks with Sony for Grown Ups 2, the sequel to the 2010 comedy that showcased Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade all together as close friends. Now today, Sony has decided to set up the official release date for the film, meaning production isn’t too far off.
Comingsoon is reported the release date is set for July 12th, 2013. Though, the big catch is that while the date is set in stone, everything else is up in the air. Wolf hasn’t begun a script yet, and Sandler nor any of his other castmates have signed on for the second film.
Grown Ups grossed the most money to date for a Sandler film, clocking in at $271 million worldwide. After Sandler’s failed Jack & Jill, it’s no wonder the comedy actor is considering his first ever sequel.
We’ll keep you updated on anything that pops up regarding the sequel, and just if Sandler will sign on for his first ever second film.
