Just this morning, we brought you the news that True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten would guest star in the hit FOX comedy New Girlas a love interest for Jess (Zooey Deschanel) during Valentine’s Day, but guess who else is seeing the adorkable side of our main character? In an interesting bit of news, 48-year old Dermot Mulroney will be vying for the heart of the 31-year old’s character.

TV Line is reporting that Mulroney will play the father of one of Jess’ students at her job as a teacher. At first “they start off dislking each other”, but will have “undeniable” chemistry. He’ll begin to appear in either March or April, and it’s undetermined just how long his character will stay on the series (Justin Long’s recurring love interest for Deschanel lasted about 3 or 4 episodes). His character is also described to be “handsome, intelligent, and wealthy”.

Mulroney joins Kwanten, Long, Lake Bell, the upcoming Lizzy Caplan, Katie Cassidy, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Eva Amurri, and Michaela Watkins on the list of guest stars that have appeared in the series that has only aired nine episodes so far. Max Greenfield (Schmidt) wants Kristen Bell to guest star later this season, and has said that the show still has nine more episodes to shoot, leaving open the amount of guests that could easily pop up.

New Girl returns January 17th at 9PM on Fox.
