‘MLB 12: The Show’ Unveils This Year’s Cover Athlete

For two straight years, Joe Mauer was the cover athlete for the Playstation-exclusive baseball series MLB: The Show. Maybe it was due to the very funny commercials with Kevin Butler. But, this year, Mauer is officially gone as the face of The Show, and it’s time for a new face to take his spot. Today, Sony has unveiled the cover of the upcoming installment for the baseball franchise, and the man gracing this year’s title is definitely one of the most talked about players from last season.

For the third time in seven years, a Boston Red Sox player has been featured as the cover athlete, this uear in the form of first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. Here is the look at the cover art (click to enlarge):

Gonzalez is a four-time All-Star, three time Gold Glove winner and the winner of the 2011 Silver Slugger at first base.

MLB 12: The Show hits store shelves on March 6th for both Playstation 3 and PSVita.
