How will he click with Nick?

Currently, he’s stealing scenes in the fun web series Dating Rules from My Future Self, but soon he’ll hopefully be stealing scenes on a much bigger screen. Back when Party Down was still on the air, Martin Starr and Lizzy Caplan shared the comedic series together as co-stars. While it looks like they’ll do the same with a film later this year, Caplan just debuted as Nick’s new girlfriend on the hit FOX comedy New Girl. Now, Starr will follow suit when he guest stars later this season…linked to Nick as well!

E! Online revealed that Starr will appear in the series’ first season as “Dirk, a friend from Nick’s law school days who’s going through a rough patch as he just broke off his engagement to his longtime girlfriend.” No word yet as to exactly when he’ll be appearing on the show, but you can expect it sometime in March, most likely. No word also if Caplan will still be around to share some screentime with her former co-star.

Starr is most famous for roles in Knocked Up, Adventureland, and more, but he’s no stranger to television either. Starr was on the Judd Apatow cult hit Freaks and Geeks, while also appearing once in Apatow’s follow-up television seriesUndeclared. Since, Starr has shown up on How I Met Your Mother, Hawaii Five-0, The League, and most recentlyCommunity.

Starr joions an impressive guest list for a comedy that has only aired ten episodes so far, including upcoming appearance from Dermot Mulroney, and Ryan Kwanten, with past appearances from Justin Long, Lake Bell, Caplan, Katie Cassidy, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Eva Amurri, and Michaela Watkins. Max Greenfield (Schmidt) wants Kristen Bell to guest star later this season, and has said that the show still has nine more episodes to shoot, leaving open the amount of guests that could easily pop up.

New Girl airs new episodes every Tuesday at 9PM on FOX.
