There’s been a lot of confusion when it’s come to just when the fifth season of Mad Men will begin. A rumor earlier pegged it with an unusual Friday premiere, which seemed to meet a great amount of skepticism from us and others across the web. Now, Jon Hamm took to a popular podcast this weekend, and when asked about the new episodes, he revealed that his self-directed episode has a set release.
Hamm announced during comedian Doug Benson’s show Doug Loves Movies this past Friday that Mad Men will premiere March 25th on AMC, which is thankfully a Sunday, dispelling the odd Friday rumors. AMC has yet to confirm the date Hamm stated.
It makes perfect sense, as it airs one week after The Walking Dead‘s season finale, and will peg the series at over 17 months since a new episode has aired. The reason for the long delay is due to creator Matthew Weiner’s discussions with the network about a fifth and sixth season.
