‘Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance’ Special Bundle and Gaming Feature Revealed

Will the Japanese release feature the same exclusive release additions?

I’ve constantly stated that one of my most anticipated titles in gaming this year is Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. While it seems it won’t be hitting the North American shores until this September unfortunately, Square Enix revealed this weekend the release date for the Japanese version of the game. And with it comes an incredible amount of goodies that may just hit worldwide when it eventually sees an international release.

Kingdom Hearts fan Tumblr revealed the news this weekend, as Square Enix revealed the release date for March 29th, 2012. No word yet just exactly when the rest of the world will be seeing the game, but what comes with the title is the most intriguing part. First, let’s start off small: there is a limited edition of game that will come with an AR card, where during gameplay, you can use the card to affect in-game creatures called Dream Eaters.

This is an interesting concept because the only way we’ve seen AR Cards used is having 3D versions of popular Nintendo characters stand still while they strike a pose for the 3DS camera. Could the game use this technology and manipulate it in game? That’ll definitely be something very important to look out for.

Furthermore, Square Enix has announced that they will be releasing a special bundle, which contains the game, along with a dark grey Nintendo 3DS sysyem that has a Kingdom Hearts design on the front (click to enlarge):

The bundle seems like an incredibly realistic option for worldwide release, not to mention millions could be produced if the release date is indeed set for the early Fall. Other specs of the customized 3DS, such as a back design if any, or a design inside, is undetermined.
Now, it’s important to note that NONE of this is confirmed for a worldwide release, though it is very possible we’ll see at least one of these additions to the game added in. Personally, I’d count more on the bundle than the AR Card, but the card is such an advancement in using Nintendo technology, that the gaming company may have no other choice but to keep it within the game.
We’ll keep you updated on the latest news on the release, including if the Japan perks will come bundled in special editions later this year, as information develops.
