Joey King Reveals Her Role as [SPOILER] In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

But the question still remains: is she the younger version of Marion Cotillard's character?

For months since her casting, many have wondered just who Joey King will be playing in the upcoming and highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises. Many have speculated that it could be a young version of Marion Cotillard’s character of Miranda Tate, but nothing had been confirmed, and everything was simply speculation. Now, in an interview with the young actress, King let loose just on what role she’s playing…and it proves that sometimes mass internet speculation is correct.

*MAJOR SPOILER ALERT. DON’T READ ON IF YOU WANT TO BE KEPT IN THE DARK*

In an interview with My Entertainment World (via Batman-News) Joey King was asked just exactly what her role is in the upcoming film. King replied with ”I play young Talia al Ghul. I can’t give too much away because I promised Mr. Nolan I wouldn’t say anything. There are too many secrets about the character and the movie.”

A “young” Talia al Ghul? That obviously means there’s an OLDER Talia al Ghul within the film, which means that speculation around Cotillard’s character seems to be extremely accurate. Granted, the role confirmation doesn’t give us much, but it definitely opens up a large world of possibilities of which the story could go from here on out.

Not to mention, there’s always the chance the 12 year old could be schemeing with Christopher Nolan, and they could be pulling the wool over our eyes, but that seems highly unlikely.

So, what does Talia al Ghul’s confirmation in the upcoming film mean? A League of Shadows inclusion has always been a popular theory, and that certainly seems likely. We’ll just have to wait and see at this point.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20th.
