Bill Lawrence has been known over the past decade and some very funny shows on television. He started off with Spin City, which eventually turned into Scrubs, and now is continuing with fan-favorite and soon to return Cougar Town. Now, Lawrence is giving a fourth series a try, and this time it’s a bit more personal.
TV Line reports that FOX has ordered a comedy pilot from the writer/creator called Like Father, “which revolves around a father-son relationship”, and in turn “is inspired by Lawrence’s own relationship with his father”. It’s said that Lawrence will write and direct the pilot, though no casting has developed just yet.
No don’t worry Cougar Town fans, this project doesn’t mean the demise of the series in any form. Most creators take on multiple projects at a time, such as Ryan Murphy with Glee and American Horror Story (okay, not the best example). Plus, Lawrence is no stranger to juggling shows, as he juggled the final season of Spin City with the first season of Scrubs, while he juggled the final season of Scrubs with the first season ofCougar Town (again, not the best example).
We’ll keep you updated on production as it develops.
