Noel Clarke is most famous for his role as Mickey Smith during the David Tennant era on Doctor Who. Since then, he’s made the move to small films here and there over the past couple of years. Now, Clarke is embarking on a bigger sci-fi epic as he’s just been cast in J.J. Abrams and Paramount’s Star Trek sequel.
We are just a little over a week or so from filming, and Varietyhas just reported that Clarke will embark on the Enterprise, though in what capacity is clearly unknown.
Paramount had no comment on the casting, though Variety reveals that Clarke’s character is ”a family man with a wife and young daughter.”
Clarke joins new actors to the franchise Peter Weller and Alice Eve, along with returning actors Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, and more.
Star Trek 2 is set to be released on May 17th, 2013.
