When actor Robert Sheehan (Nathan) announced his departure from Misfits, he still returned for a quick short to wrap up his character. Still, audiences wondered how the show would do since Sheehan was the comic relief and a major fan favorite. Joseph Gilgun has seemingly done a great job of filling that spot. However, it seems the series will be undergoing more changes, as two of the show’s original cast members have announced they will be leaving the show.
Actors Iwan Rheon (Simon) and Antonia Thomas (Alisha) have announced that with the show’s fourth series/season renewal, they both will not be returning for the latest batch of new episodes.
Many U.K. fans won’t find this as a surprise, given the conclusion of the third season/series (which we’ll remain completely spoiler-free about for the sake of U.S. viewers), but it still means that only two of the original cast members are left standing; Lauren Socha and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.
Now, will they be recruiting two all-new actors to fill their spots, or will the Misfits be limited to only three? That will definitely be interesting to watch. Expect an announcement sometime soon, especially seeing how the upcoming fourth installment will be filming in Early 2012 for a release late next year.
