‘The Hunger Games’ Home Video Release Date Revealed?!

Could one of the most anticipated films of the year already be headed home?

Let’s consider this one the weirdest news piece of the day, shall we? We are still three months away from the theatrical release of The Hunger Games. Many fans are incredibly excited, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated films of 2012. But, what if we were to tell you that the Blu-Ray/DVD of the film already has a set release date? Well…that’s what Amazon Germany is saying. In fact, they’re not just saying the film’s home video release date, they’re already accepting pre-orders!

The Hob, one of the most trusted Hunger Games fan sites around, reported that the German Amazon site is accepting pre-orders for the home video release of the film already, saying that fans can get their hands on their own copy August 23rd, 2012. This is five months TO THE DAY of when the film hits theaters.

This, however, indicates the film’s release on a Thursday, and is only confirmed as the German release of the film, meaning that the U.S. release date still remains very much shrouded in mystery. However, it’s very likely the film could still be released on the normal American release of Tuesdays, meaning the Blu-Ray/DVD could hit shelves on August 21st.

It’s important to include that nothing for the U.S. release is yet confirmed, but it may have just opened up the European release date big time.

We’ll keep you posted as to when the film will be available on home video as 2012 moves on, and when official confirmation from Lionsgate is revealed.

But, for now, let’s ask this question: Hunger Games fans, will you be sad you’ll have to wait until the end of the summer to get your hands on your copy of the film? Let us know in the comments below!
