Last week, when the all-new poster for the upcoming reboot The Amazing Spider-Man was revealed, we reported that many were concerned what exactly the tagline “The Untold Story” meant. Well, today, Sony Pictures has officially launched the official website for the film, and with it comes plenty of new information, along with story details, new images, and more.
The story details differ between characters, as each character is described differently. To see all the character bios, you can head over to the official site here. Where the untold story is revealed is in Peter’s bio. Throughout the original trilogy, we had Peter’s heart, and his love for his family (Ben, May, and MJ) fueling most of the emotion throughout everything. But, seeing how he has the love thing on lockdown, this focuses more on “the untold story” of Peter & his parents. It says that he’s “on the brink” of discovering why they disappeared “13 years ago” and that it lies somewhere within Oscorp, which makes it intensely interesting.
Along with this, here are the new images that go with the site as well:
And a new synopsis has been revealed:
Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret his father held…a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins.
It’s bold for Sony to flat out announce that this starts a “series” of films, but given the fact that a release date for a sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is already set for 2014, and a script is already being written, it makes perfect marketing sense for them to throw out that information.
For the full experience, with somber music, and more, you can head over to the official site for the film here.
The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters next July.
