Chris Pratt has gained major cult status points for his role as Andy on NBC’s Parks & Recreation. Pratt’s major serious role came a few months back in Moneyball when he portrayed baseballer Scott Hatteberg. However now, Pratt may be getting an even bigger role, as word is now surfacing that he will join director Kathryn Bigelow’s (The Hurt Locker) next film.
NextMovie is reporting that Pratt is currently talking with Bigelow for her upcoming film, titled Kill Bin Laden (though rumors still persist the title will change). This is a film Bigelow has been working on since before the terrorist’s death, and it’s unclear if it will reflect the story of SEAL Team 6, or will be taken as a different approach.
Furthermore, Pratt’s role is far from specified, and joins a cast that includes the previously confirmed Jason Clarke. Clarke is playing, “a terrorist hunter in service of the U.S. efforts to hunt Bin Laden.” Other names tossed around for the film, but far from confirmed, are Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Roony Mara, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle, and Nina Arianda.
Bigelow worked on the script with Oscar winner Mark Boal, her frequent collaborator and business parter, and is currently set for a release from Sony Pictures on December 19th, 2012. We’ll keep you posted on any more information that’s released regarding the film’s road to production.
