HIMYM is known this season for bringing back plenty characters/elements of the past. So far, we’ve seen The Slutty Pumpkin, The Slap Bet, Victoria, a resurfacing of Barney and Robin’s relationship, Robin’s non-desire to have kids, and more. Now, the nostalgia tour continues as the series brings back a rather violent member from Ted and Barney’s past.

Will Sasso, who guest starred as the rather hot-headed Doug, a MacLaren’s bartender, in Season 4′s “The Fight” will return when the series comes back from holiday hiatus on January 2nd, TV Line reports.

The former MADtv and [Bleep] My Dad Says star will return for an episode that recaps the entire gang’s New Year’s Eve shenanigans. It should also be noted that this will also be the return of that holiday as well on the series, as the show has neglected to celebrate the holiday since Season 1′s “The Limo”.

The last time Doug was around, it ended with Marshall knocking out the always-wanting-to-fight bartender. How will he be this time around? We’ll just have to see when HIMYM returns on Monday January 2nd at 8PM, only on CBS.
