Ben Kingsley Joins ‘Ender’s Game’

Hugo, though a critical hit, hasn’t exactly drawn in as much money as people were expecting. However, most of the cast are still moving on to bigger and brighter things. We’ve been reporting on Asa Butterfield’s next sci-fi hit Ender’s Game, and now it seems one of his cast members from Hugo will be joining the party.

Hitfix is reporting that Ben Kingsley will join the adaptation, which starts filming in the next few months. He joins Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and possibly Harrison Ford, who’s being sought out for the film.

Kingsley is said to be taking the place of “an aged war hero, who was long-thought dead.”

The site breaks down the film’s synopsis as, ”a group of children…are sent to an elite war academy where they partake in high-tech war games in order to prepare them for combat with a relentless alien race that has been waging war on humanity for decades. Steinfeld will play another academy recruit who befriends Ender.”

The film was written and will be directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and is currently set for a release on March 15th, 2013.
