Just the other day, the first song from the soundtrack for The Hunger Games was released called “Safe & Sound” by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars. The revelation that the film would be filled with top artists sent everyone into speculation mode. Now, two more artists have been confirmed for the upcoming album, adding a bit more alternative to the overall CD.
Khaleej Times is reporting that Lionsgate has announced artists Arcade Fire and The Decemberists will join The Hunger Games soundtrack with original songs. No further information, including just when their songs will be available, was included, but we can expect to hear the tracks in the coming months.
“Safe and Sound” was at #1 on iTunes, which it achieved just 12 hours after being released on the digital music program. Since, it’s only fell one spot to #2 as of this morning.
“We are thrilled to have such a hauntingly beautiful companion album taking shape,” said Joe Drake, co-COO of Lionsgate.
Both Swift and Arcade Fire are Grammy award winners for Album of the Year, with Swift winning three separate Grammys for her work, while The Decemberists are 10 year music veterans, with their last album “The King is Dead” hitting the #1 on the U.S. charts.
The album is expected to hit sometime in March, just a little before the film’s debut in theaters on March 23rd, 2012.
