After Jack and Jill has tanked at the box office, Sony is deciding to give Adam Sandler the chance to strike gold twice. The actor has never before done a sequel in his film career, but Sony is now convincing Sandler to return to his top grossing film of all-time: Grown Ups.
Variety is reporting on the sequel news, saying Sony and Happy Madison Productions have behun talking about a potential sequel to the 2010 box ofice hit. The film’s original writer Fred Wolf is in negotiations to pen the sequel’s story as well, with Sandler potentially interested in reprising his role.
If Sandler returns, it would must likely bring Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade back for the sequel as well, as all five comics starred together in the first movie.
Jack and Jill grossed $76 million worldwide so far, while Grown Ups grossed a whopping $271 million during its entire worldwide run.
