Get ready: Jack Bauer is coming back. After 24 met its end, a feature film was set to go quickly into development, but has hit many delays. Now, it’s said that the movie that continues the tale of everyone’s favorite special agent will be on its way to theaters soon.
Deadline is reporting that writer Mark Bomback, of the upcoming The Wolverine, will hand in his draft of the script by month’s end, and from here the movie will aim to film this April.
The goal is to get an all-new director, which the studio has five currently in mind (none revealed in the report) and film due to Kiefer Sutherland’s availability, after his filming on new series Touch wraps. It also lets Brian Grazer step in to producer after his producing duty at the Oscars a month or so before.
24 aired on Fox for eight seasons before wrapping in May 2010. A feature film continuation was set to be filmed shortly afterwards, but faced many holes, including rejected scripts and the departure of attached director Tony Scott.
