Showtime has just set many people’s mind at ease today. Everyone’s favorite serial killer Dexter Morgan won’t be going anywhere for at least two years. The network has renewed series Dexter for two more seasons today.
Each season will consist of 12 episodes each, and bring Seasons Seven and Eight of the series, with the former premiering in Fall 2012.
President of Entertainment at Showtime David Nevins said in a press release, “Dexter’s enormous success is a real tribute to the great achievements of its cast, producers, and the powerhouse performance of Michael C. Hall. The series is bigger than it’s ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape.”
“Together with Michael, the creative team on the show has a very clear sense of where they intend to take the show over the next two seasons and, as a huge fan, I’m excited to watch the story of Dexter Morgan play out.”
The network signed Hall to a two year contract this week, foreshadowing the series’ renewal announcement. Hall added to the press release saying, ”On behalf of the entire Dexter family, we relish the invitation to delve ever deeper into Dexter’s world.”
Dexter currently airs every Sunday at 10PM on Showtime, and will end its sixth season on December 18th.
