Second Trailer for Oscar-Possible ‘Shame’

Shame is the NC-17 film that is gaining Oscar buzz due to Michael Fassbender’s performance as Brandon, a sex addict. Now, today, an all new domestic trailer for Steve McQueen’s latest has hit iTunes, and you can see it right below.

Synopsis:

Brandon (Michael Fassbender) is a New Yorker who shuns intimacy with women but feeds his desires with a compulsive addiction to sex. When his wayward younger sister (Carey Mulligan) moves into his apartment stirring memories of their shared painful past, Brandon’s insular life spirals out of control.

Within the trailer, there’s plenty of quotes to hype up the film for awards season, comparing it to Midnight Cowboy and Last Tango in Paris. Not to mention perhaps the saddest version of “New York, New York” ever sung, from Carey Mulligan. Whether or not Shame gets the recognition it may or may not deserve has yet to be determined.

This is McQueen and Fassbender’s second collaboration together, after 2008′s Hunger.

Shame will be in theaters everywhere on December 2nd.
