As James Bond’s next adventure Skyfall continue to film around the world, it’s been announced that a new cast member has joined the cast, who shall make history. Ben Whishaw, an actor who’s been on the rise in England for sometime now, will be joining the world’s most famous spy as his tinker of toys.
Yes, THR is confirming that Whishaw will be playing Q, the maker of Bond’s various gadgets throughout the series. Last seen in 2002′s Die Another Day by John Cleese, Q was always much older than Bond in every film he’s appeared in thus far. Now, for the first time in the franchise’s history, the super weapon specialist will be younger than Bond, as Whishaw is 12 years younger than portrayer Daniel Craig.
Whishaw’s involvement isn’t that much of a surprise, as for months now the actor has been rumored to be in the film. Now that filming has officially gone underway, his casting coming to light officially is a big development.
Skyfall, starring Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, and more along with Whishaw, will be released first in the U.K. and Ireland next year, almost a full two of three weeks before the North American arrival on November 9th, 2012.
The action thriller, directed by Sam Mendes, is currently filming in London, one of many locales it plans to visit, including Shanghai and other parts of China.
