‘Prospect Park’ Abandons Online Soap Plans

As reported by SoapCentral.com, Prospect Park announced they are cancellilng plans to launch online versions of One Life to Live (OLTL) and All My Children (AMC). The hopes of many loyal soap fans were raised when the plans to continue both soaps were first announced. It seems as though the cost of mounting the two shows would be prohibitive, although many of One Life to Live’s soap stars, including beloved veterans, Erika Slezak (Vicky) and Kassie DePaiva (Blair) had reached agreements with the internet company.

The news was announced Wednesday, prompting an outcry from disappointed fans on Twitter and Facebook, including actors Lindsay Hartley and Cameron Mathison. Many opined that the information was being released on Thanksgiving Eve to lessen the expected backlash.

When OLTL ends it over four decades long run in January 2012, it will be the end of an era, leaving only one soap left on the ABC network, General Hospital (GH). Rumors abound that GH is also in danger of cancellation.

Could GH be inching ever closer to its’ final swan song?

How do YOU feel about the demise of plans to resurrect AMC and OLTL online? Were you surprised? Let us know! We want to hear from you!

Until next time!
